St. David's School of Nursing

Message From the Director

Welcome to the St. David’s School of Nursing at Texas State University. This is an exciting time to be embarking on a career in healthcare and the ever changing field of nursing. Our nursing program opened in the fall 2010 in a newly constructed state-of-the-art nursing building on the Round Rock campus. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board as well as the Texas Board of Nursing has approved the nursing program. National accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) was granted to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program effective November 7, 2011.
Our national healthcare system is in a state of flux and will require innovative solutions from healthcare professionals in order to meet the demands of shrinking budgets and an aging public who are medically fragile. Nursing as a profession is uniquely poised to partner in the system changes. To prepare graduates to meet these challenges, we gathered the most current evidence regarding the education and practice of nursing to develop a nursing program for the 21st century. Our simulation laboratories are one example of the cutting edge technology used to benefit our students.
