School of Nursing

Since its inception in 1979, the Texas Tech University Health Sciences School of Nursing has developed innovative degrees to meet the needs of Texas residents. Our School of Nursing is the only nursing school on the South Plains that provides baccalaureate, masters and doctoral education.

Our first students were admitted to the Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing four-year degree at the Lubbock campus in 1981. The School of Nursing now offers a variety of degree programs where students can earn their bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree, as well as three different post-masters certificates. There are campuses in Abilene, the Permian Basin, El Paso and Lubbock that help address the nursing shortage.

As it strives to graduate expertly trained professionals into the nursing field, the School of Nursing remains focused on providing experience and education of the highest quality to its students. Our objective is to exceed national recognition of nursing standards, while developing professional skills and a service-oriented attitude to enable nursing graduates to excel in an ever-evolving field.

The School of Nursing faculty, staff and students represent our mission and vision by displaying the highest quality of ideas and education driven by leadership and innovative thinking.
