Clinicians must attend day 1 didactic class to qualify for this advanced hands-on program. Class focuses on ultrasound technology and hands-on practice of MST technique. Venipuncture experience and knowledge of central line care are essential. 

Objectives:Principles of ultrasound technology, ultrasound scanning technique to identify veins, arteries and nerve bundles, preparation of equipment for ultrasound PICC insertion, review of Chest x-ray for PICC tip location and demonstration of ultrasound guided PICC insertion technique. Hands-on practice session includes usage of an ultrasound on each other to learn probemanship identify and differentiate veins, arteries and nerves, measuring for SVC tip location. Participants get an opportunity to access veins with an ultrasound and practice MST PICC insertion technique using a "Blue Phantom" and "Peter PICC" PICC insertion models.
