By attending this program, participants will learn to define central venous access devices (CVAD), differentiate tunneled catheters, non-tunneled catheters, implanted ports, PICC and midlines, explain indications for CVAD, perform central line flushing, CVAD dressing change, perform blood draw through CVAD; perform port-a-cath cannulation and de-cannulation, restore CVAD patency with cathflo (Altiplase), integrate practice structures to prevent and manage CVAD complications, and remove non-tunneled catheters.
Participants get an opportunity to observe central line procedures and hands-on practice using a “Chester Chest” mannequin.
